Las Vegas, NV  -  Fans attending the second day of competition in the BCA Open 9-Ball Championships enjoyed a full slate of intense competition between great players from all over the world.

The day and evening sessions were highlighted by not one, but two, appearances of fans favorites such as Efren Reyes, Earl Strickland, Jeanette Lee and Allison Fisher.

Fans crowded the room to standing room only capacity to see their favorite players at the table and were not disappointed by the competition they witnessed. Fresh from the European championships, Germany's Karen Mayet (photo #5) defeated defending champion Gerda Hofstatter in a come from behind battle that kept the fans enthralled from shot to shot. While in an earlier match, Earl Strickland, after adjusting to a new racking system and a repaired table, defeated Jim Rempe in a match filled with both frustrated banter and humor.

Day session matches saw a total of 16 players in each division move the one loss bracket.

The entertainment continued in the evening matches with the second appearances of many fan favorites. Filipino Efren Reyes defeated former World Wheelchair Champion, Aaron Aragon (photo #6), in a match of wits and skill that kept the spectators riveted to their seats. While in a later round, fellow Filipino resident Francisco Bustamonte (photo #7) did not disappoint fans with his swashbuckling style as he defeated Earl Strickland. For the late night fans, the competition between Japan's Akikumo Toshikawa and Filipino Alex Pagulayan (photo #8) went until 1:00 am in a grueling and exciting hill-hill climax with Toshikawa winning the match.

In women's competition, both Jeanette Lee and Englander, Allison Fisher defeated their opponents to set the course for a possible clash during upcoming Wednesday evening competition.


The evening matches once again saw 12 players in each division fall to the one loss bracket.
