### EPBF press release 2001-12-10 ###

THE VENUE: "Pool Garden"
Sammonkatu 44, 33450 Tampere - FIN

With this being the last tournament of the series for 2001, it was fitting that there would be a new tournament winner. Niels Fejen NL & Christian Reimering D, both made it to the final which neither have previously won.
The tournament had been very close, in many matches it fell to the last game and the final was too be no exception.
Christian had beaten his countryman Michael Schmidt and Niels beat the local hero, Tampere`s Aki Heiskanen in the semi`s.

The final began with Niels taking a quick lead of 6-1 and christian looking beaten but the "never say die" attitude of Christian brought him back to lead 7-6. Niels, who had been beaten in the last two finals here in Finland, 1999 & 2000 must have been that Tampere was to be his eternal second place.
However, Niels turned the tables again and took the next two frames to lead 8-7 but a mistake in the next let in Christian to level at 8-8. You could see that Christian wanted this title so badly and his break for the final and deciding game showed this also, so hard was the effort that the cue ball jumped off the table and Niels had ball in hand and made no mistake to run out.
So it was third time lucky for the dutch master who is proving to be a world class player and also a gentleman at such a young age.

THE FINALSTANDING

1. Place: Niels Feijen - Netherlands
2. Place: Reimering Christian - Germany
3. Place: Heiskanen Aki - Finland
               Schmidt Michael - Germany
