Tom Storm; On top of Europe.
From 23 countries, 144 players participated at the last
Euro tour event of 2003.
In the last 3 events this year, there have been a total of 510 players.
Swedens Tom Storm stands on top of them all, after his 5th place finish
here
in Kortrijk Belgium. Tom's closest challenger and current World Champion,
Germanys Thorsten Hohmann went out in the first knock out round to
Englands
Imran Mahjid. This left Tom at the top of the European rankings for 2003
and
nobody can say he does not deserve it.
Tom lost to fellow Sweed Marcus Chamat, in the quarter finals 9-7 and the
same
score went against Marcus in the semi's against Germanys Oliver Ortmann.
It was an all German final with Ralf Souquet joining Oliver with a
convincing
9-1 semi final win against Thorsten Schober also from Germany. Ralf seemed
to
step it up a gear in the knockout stages, the closest anyone came was
Finlands
Stefan Sellberg who took 6 racks off him in the quarter finals. Ralf gave
Oliver
no chance beating him 9-2 and taking a great confidence boost to the up
and
coming Mosconi cup.
