PRESSRELEASE
21/09/2003
Thorsten Hohmann, the man in form.
Thorsten from Germany, had his life turned upside down
just 2 months ago when he won the World championships. Now at the first
Euro tour since his triumph the pressure was on, was it just fortune or is
he as good as the title says?.
After his final demolition of National hero Nick van den Berg, 9-1, nobody
can ever be in doubt that this boy has talent.
With one of the strongest fields present, it was never going to be easy.
198 players made it to Weert Netherlands, including names such as, Ralf
Souquet, Oliver Ortman and Mika Immonen. 3 past and 1 present World
champion was still not enough. Recently crowned World masters champion
Toni Drago also joined in this great event. Toni, known for his fast play
destroyed his first 2 opponents, both matches ending 9-0 and a total of 1
hour & 14 minutes play. Even he could do nothing when on the receiving
end of the same score line, 0-9 against Andreja Klasovic from Serbia &
Montenegro. Toni said afterwards, " i had 2 shots the whole game,
what can i say, he played great".
With the semi finals being a country verses country affair, 2 Germans in
Thorsten against Michael Schmidt, Thorsten winning 9-5 and Nick against
Niels Feijen with Nick taking that 9-6.
With the way Thorsten is playing at the moment, its going to take some
good play to even stay the distance with him, let alone beat him. Next
stop Germany, home teritory means more expectations on a young mans head,
can he do it again?.
