EURO SENIORS UP AND RUNNING WITH STRAIGHT POOL
THE 2026 PREDATOR EUROPEAN SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIPS got underway today at the Gandia Palace Hotel in the seaside town in the east of Spain. The event features 166 players in total across the three divisions of 45-plus and 55-plus men and 45-plus ladies. With 25 countries represented, there are a total of 11 tournaments across four disciplines – 14.1, 10-ball, 8-ball and finally 9-ball. In addition, there are both men’s and ladies’ team events.
With torrential rain and flooding hitting the area hard, there were some early logistical issues. The event is run over two separate venues with 20 of the 28 tables in the main hotel and the remaining eight, including the arena set-up, in a separate nearby building. Unfortunately, the second venue succumbed to the weather and became non-operational for the opening day.
Furthermore, the sheer volume of rain turned the road outside the hotel into a river and made movement between the two venues all but impossible. However, the opening discipline of straight pool has only the two men’s categories competing – the ladies sitting this one out – which eased the situation and after some heroic efforts by event staff, the second venue will be up and running on Tuesday.
Tomorrow sees the two 14.1 tournaments complete with the semi-finals scheduled for 17.00 and the gold medal deciders taking place at 19.00 followed by the medal presentations. Following the straight pool, 10-ball gets underway on Wednesday in 46-plus, 56-plus and ladies divisions and continues to a conclusion on Friday 23rd.
Played over nine days, the Championships conclude on Tuesday 27th with the finals of the three 9-ball tournaments and the two team competitions. Following on from that is the final Predator Euro Tour event of the year – the Revora Spanish Open which starts on Thursday 29th and concludes on Sunday 1st November.
