2026 Revora Spanish Open
SPANISH OPEN UP AND RUNNING IN GANDIA
29th October 2026
ACTION GOT UNDERWAY today on the Predator Euro Tour as the Revora Spanish Open kicked off in in Gandia. There were several rounds played on the men’s Euro Tour as a high-quality 165-player field assembled. A few of the players had made the dash back from Doha where they were playing in the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball and semi-finalists Wojciech Szewczyk and Daniel Maciol will be getting their Spanish Open campaign underway on Friday.
One player clocking up the airmiles is Hungary’s Oliver Szolnoki whose relentless travelling finds a last stop off in Gandia. 11 months ago in this same venue, he enjoyed a fabulous two weeks, winning the Little Monster Mixed Doubles Open with Zhang Muyan and then taking down his second Predator Euro Tour title.
He enjoyed two wins today, the first a 9-5 win over France’s Pascal Enfroy and the second a get-out-of-jail 9-8 victory over Maks Benko. The Slovenian looked all set for victory before a jarring miss, with the balls out in the open, let Szolnoki back in.
Commented Oliver, “The year has been really busy and to be honest, I haven’t been home since 24th July. I went five weeks in the US, two weeks China, two weeks Vietnam then one-and-a-half weeks in Bali, then the Philippines, then Qatar and then here so I will be happy to go home after this.
“But the results have been solid in the first eight or nine months. The last two month haven’t been the best but the game is there and I hope it comes together for a strong finish.”
“It was a great two weeks last year here. I managed to first win the mixed doubles with Muyan and then the Euro Tour so I like this place. I’m a bit sad to be here because it means I was out of the Qatar World Cup before the last 16 but at least I still have the chance to try another tournament and make some ranking points and prize money so I hope the place stays with me last like last year,” he added.
Another weary traveller was Poland’s Konrad Juszczyszyn, who came from airport to venue this morning but still managed to get the job done. He beat Czech Matous Vlk and then came through a bruising encounter with Tobias Bongers, winning in the deciding rack. The Pole had good reason to want the win.
“I’m happy because I didn’t sleep at night because I was on the plane from Qatar to here so I just want to go to sleep and if I was going to lose against Tobias, I would play another match so I’m very happy that I won and I can rest finally.
“I’ve not had the best season in all tournaments, not only the Euro Tour. It is what it is and I’m trying my best and I think my form is going up and we will see what’s going to happen next year. I hope I’m going to play better and better.
“I always want to win always but after the last few months, I’ve started to think that I want to play very good, my best pool so I’m just thinking about playing every shot, every rack, every match the best I can play.”
A player making his way from youth pool success into the global circuit is former WPA World Junior Champion Yannick Pongers. The Dutchman enjoyed a mixed day in Gandia where he won his opener, beating Amoyo Denver (AUT) 9-2, but fell to wily veteran Radoslaw Babica (POL), to find himself on the one-loss side where he beat another Pole, Marcin Kwiecien to stay alive.
He said, “I’ve been playing pretty well; I’ve been travelling the whole world and playing a lot. I’m in stroke pretty much every tournament and even if I’m travelling, I’m still trying to practice and get the time in so I feel pretty good.
“I think every junior could relate that it’s hard to make that big step and I feel like I’m knocking on the door and I’m still close to get over the line one time and maybe then it starts rolling more. I think I feel like I’m very close.
“This year training was pretty hard because I’m travelling all the time so it’s hard to find a practice table when you’re away so it’s difficult. But when I’m at home, I train a lot online with Alex Lely and he’s very good at that and it’s going very well,” concluded Pongers.
Action resumes in the men’s tournament on Friday morning at 9.00 on both winner’s and loser’s sides of the draw. The women’s event starts at 10.45. As of 2026, WPA World Ranking points are now available on both men’s and women’s Predator Euro Tours.
