The Best of the Best Are Coming to Warsaw! EPBF Parasport European Billiard Championships Kick Off!

World champions, multiple international medalists and defending European champions – the elite of European parasport billiards will gather in Warsaw! From 9–17 November 2026, the BOSS Hotel in Poland's capital will host the EPBF Parasport European Billiard Championships. Players representing 14 countries will compete for six European championship titles and a total prize fund of €9,000. This year's event will mark a historic milestone for European billiards.

The entry list features some of the biggest names in European parasport billiards. Among those heading to Warsaw are Georgios Malekkidis of Cyprus, the reigning European 9-ball champion, and Adam Wilk of Poland, who will defend his European 10-ball title on home soil.

Both players were the main protagonists of last year's European Championships in Starachowice, Poland, where they faced each other in two finals and shared the gold medals. In the 10-ball final, Wilk produced a remarkable comeback from 2–4 down to claim a thrilling 5–4 victory. Malekkidis took his revenge in the 9-ball final, defeating the Polish player 6–2.

The Wheelchair division will feature an equally impressive line-up. Among the biggest stars are Henrik Larsson of Sweden and Jouni Tähti of Finland – world champions and multiple medalists at major international competitions.

Larsson is a true legend of European billiards. At the 2025 European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, he claimed his 16th European title by winning the 10-ball competition. Meanwhile, Tähti dominated the other two disciplines, securing gold medals in both 8-ball and 9-ball. Both players will once again be among the leading contenders in Warsaw, and another potential showdown between them could be one of the highlights of the Championships.

A Historic Championship: Two Divisions, Six Gold Medals

This year's Championships will be a landmark event in the history of European billiards. For the first time, players from two parasport divisions – Wheelchair and Standing – will compete at the same championship, in the same venue.

Each division will feature three disciplines: 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball. This means six sets of medals and six European championship titles will be awarded in Warsaw.

According to the organizers, nearly 60 people from 14 countries will travel to the Polish capital, including almost 40 players. Eight specially prepared pool tables, equipped with new cloth and balls, will be available for the competitors. A team of more than a dozen international referees will oversee the competition.

Hosting an event of this nature also requires careful preparation of the facilities. To accommodate the different needs of the athletes, the organizers have arranged spacious playing areas, suitable competition conditions and additional time for rest and recovery between matches.

Polish Team Aiming for Medals on Home Soil

Poland will be represented by a strong national team determined to demonstrate its place among Europe's best in front of a home crowd.

In the Wheelchair division, the Polish squad will include Emil Malanowski, a multiple European Championship medalist who won bronze in the 8-ball competition at last year's Championships in Tallinn.

In the Standing division, much of the attention will focus on Adam Wilk, who has the opportunity to defend his European 10-ball title. However, Poland also has several other talented players capable of challenging for the podium.

"We have medal ambitions, and we hope to reach the podium three, perhaps even four times on home soil. It certainly won't be easy, as the very best players in Europe are coming to Warsaw, including athletes with an impressive collection of medals from European and World Championships," said Grzegorz Kędzierski, President of the Polish Billiards Association.
